If you have your own device and would like to use it with the fully functioning wireless service in the school (phone, tablet, laptop) you must register it with the WRDSB first. For information on this process, follow this link. |
Computers and Chromebooks
As a WRDSB student, you are issued a WRDSB username = first 4 letters of your last name followed by first letter of your first name followed by last 4 numbers in your student number. If you are a new grade 9, your password is your complete student number. If you are already in secondary school, your password is set by you and MUST be changed every 90 days or it will expire and you will be locked out of your account. You can be your own Password Executive Officer (PEO) by setting up your "About Me" security questions in the "My Way" section of your school's website. Below, you can see an example of how a student username is put together. Link to additional info can be found here.
When you are properly signed onto your chromebook (not as a "guest") you can access your google classrooms and create your best student work. Please remember to use the "WRDSB wireless" setting when you are using your chromebook within the school.

Google Drive for Education (GAFE)
Every year more W-O students receive their very own chromebook to use in all of their coursework. Signing on to your chromebook is exactly like signing in to a network computer in the school. Using a chromebook, you can access a suite of useful writing, spreadsheet, presentation, and other tools to do your best academic work.
Again, you should set up your security questions in the "About Me" section of the "My Way" portal on the W-O school website.
This WRDSB innovation initiative has many moving parts, so follow this link to access detailed information about GAFE and your chromebook: link
